15 Feb CHALLENGES IN EVANGELIZING EDUCATION. PHILIPPINES
Pope Francis launched an impressive initiative, called “Reinventing the Global
Compact on Education” in order to “rekindle our dedication for and with young
people, renewing our passion for a more open and inclusive education, including
patient listening, constructive dialogue and better mutual understanding”. He also
urged us to build and walk on a truly common and shared educational path, to
jointly look for solutions to our problems, to courageously start processes of
transformation and to look at our future with hope.
I believe that this initiative responded to the challenges that we are facing at the
moment. The decline of faith and values and changing face of families greatly
challenges our mission in education. The effects of social media and the big leap
to technology is one of the hardest struggles of teachers specially who are not
millennials but they are trying their best to cope up with the changes and the
need of our situation. Creation of new programs, interventions and innovations
on how to include safety and health protocol while delivering learning to all
students. The online training and webinars are not enough in the battle of that we
are facing right now in the new normal. The budget for technological equipment
is also a challenge, the need to upgrade laptops, computers and internet provider
to give quality teaching. The challenge to create an avenue for growth and
embraced the changes and faced new normal with confidence and passion for
teaching and for a more open and inclusive education.
