10 Jan THE LATIN AMERICAN PROVINCE OF CONO SUR IS NORN!
After a time of discernment, becoming acquainted, and form ing bonds of sisterhood between the
Province of Argentina-Uruguay and the Vice-province of Chile, a new province was born “from the
Heart of Jesus” on the 1 st of January in Buenos Aires, The Latin American Province of Cono Sur,
comprised of the countries of Argentina, Chile and Uruguay.
In the afternoon, all the Sisters met, those present in person and online, for a beautiful adoration, guided by the Sisters from Chile and Argentina. In the adoration, there were several meaningful gestures, such as the reading of the Decree of erection of the Latin American Province of Cono Sur and the suppression of the Province of Argentina-Uruguay and of the ViceProvince of Chile, S Gaby Peredo read the letter; S. Sandra Pinto, who will assume the office of Provincial Secretary read the letter sent by S. Rosario Fernandez-Villaran, Superior General, where she relates the process of unification that the Sisters of both provinces have been following. Finally, S Antonia Salas, from Chile, read the Letter of Nomination, by which S. Lucia Gallo received her mission as Provincial Superior of the new Latin American Province of Cono Sur
After the reading of these letters. In a gesture of acceptance and support, we Sisters, one by one, approached Lucia to give her an abrazo. To end the adoration, we all extended our hands over Lucia in blessing.
After the adoration, we had a joyful sharing among all of us in an atmosphere of gratitude, joy and encounter.
The Sisters sent from Chile, Jimena Fuentes, Antonia Salas and Carola Ledesma, took advantage of this opportunity to get to know and to share life and mission with the Sisters from the communities of Buenos Aires, the house in the Center, Belgrano, Barrio Nuevo and Ituzaingo.
We thank God for this long-awaited event which we h ave been praying for during the four year
process of unification, “to be born as a new Province in the warmth of his Heart”
