Santa Rafaela Maria Training and Skills Center – Together, sow seeds of hope for a more dignified life.

Naga City, Philippines

Attentive to the needs and challenges of today, we, the sisters of the Sabang community (Naga, Philippines), felt the need to further support the families around us, particularly by transmitting essential human values such as the dignity of all, justice, and respect, all in a climate of love, peace, and hope.

In the context of this jubilee year, with the theme of Hope, the social center Sta. Rafaela Maria Skills and Training (an extension of our Sta. Rafaela Maria School in Naga City, Inc.) inaugurated a new training program for the women of Sabang on February 10, 2025. Through short but high-quality training in areas such as bakery, pastry, massage, manicures, and pedicures, women aged 18 to 50 will acquire and develop skills that will help them break the cycle of poverty and lead a more dignified life.

In 2025, we will focus mainly on Bakery and Pastry Production NC II. This is a technical and vocational training program aimed at developing learners’ skills in the preparation and production of bakery products, pastries, and desserts. The training is provided by professional teachers from a government training center, a recognized institution for the quality and level of its programs. Our training program is designed to enable effective learning and quick progress, with sessions organized in groups of 12.

At the end of the courses, participants will receive a training certificate that will open up employment opportunities in the Philippines or abroad. The center will also provide them with a space to further practice and the opportunity to start their own business, by providing equipment such as an oven or a mixer, which they might not be able to acquire on their own.

In addition to this technical training, we offer individual guidance, helping them grow both humanly and spiritually, and to look toward the future. With simple and concrete actions, we wish to continue sowing seeds of hope among the families of Sabang.
