28 Nov EDUCATION for Development and Global Citizenship. SPAIN
Our project AGENDA 2021 arose as a proposal for the whole educational community in the
framework of Education for Global Development
To begin, the 17 Objectives for Sustainable Development of the 2030 AGENDA of the UN were
distributed among the different groups of our educational community (Student body, AMPA, PAS,
and the Leadership Team). Each of these drew up a commitment with which to improve our
immediate environment in regard to the ODS (Objectives for Sustainable Development) assigned to
it. The sum of all these commitments are reflected in our Agenda 2021.
Students from different courses were put in charge of the design of the Agenda, creating a physical
version of it and a digital version for disseminating online.
Agenda 2021 was signed in City Hall of La Coruña by a representative of each of the groups of our
educational community and in the presence of the Mayor, who also signed our agenda as a witness
to the commitment we have undertaken.
We have collected uniforms and used mobile phones, we have made use of waste material for
compost for our vegetable garden, our older students have given workshops for the younger ones,
we have held Clean-up Days for our neighborhood, reduced the consumption of water, and we are
studying energy efficacy in our buildings… many small things that make a difference.
The Project has received the National “Vicente Ferrer” Prize for Education for Development.
